It’s always great to be recognised for our achievements in the industry, but any insurer knows it’s the British Insurance Awards you want to impress.

This year, we’re shortlisted for Best Newcomer, which recognises businesses live for less than three years.

What makes Ticker a BIA finalist

From the very beginning of Ticker, the strategy has been clear: to take connected motor insurance to a much wider market.

We knew the benefits were transferrable, so we built an ecosystem that lets us design insurtech products for niche audiences, in rapid timescales.

While we were created by founders with incredible track records in the insurance industry, Ticker is a data company at heart. The work we’ve done in data science, to fully leverage connected car data, has had an impact across every part of the business.

Customer experience, pricing, underwriting, claims and anti-fraud – all are continually optimised with machine learning and AI, with no silos preventing interaction.

As an insurtech, we’ve kept a rigorous focus on the fundamentals that make a successful insurance business. Great traction (but not at the expense of loss ratio), manageable burn with a clear path to profitability, and very strong economics, including lifetime value and cost of acquisition.

It’s helped us build something that’s not just brilliant, but sustainable. That’s a winning combination.
