But, of course, it’s not just a celebration. Pride must go beyond rainbows and beyond just this month. Here’s what we’re doing this summer to observe Pride.
Our July edition of the Ticker Wellbeing Magazine is all about how we can make a real difference during Pride and beyond. In February, we focused on LGBTQ+ history, which can be a very sobering topic. The issue drove home how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go.
July’s magazine will centre on present day Pride, and we’ll talk about the ways everyone can be an ally as well as offering resources to help anyone struggling or who wants to know more.
Support is vital for the LGBTQ+ community and while Pride is about celebration, we can’t forget that its roots are in activism. That’s why we’re also making a donation during this month to support real change.
We’ve chosen to give to Galop, the UK’s LGBTQ+ anti-abuse charity. They’re an LGBTQ+-run service, working directly with the thousands of LGBTQ+ people who experience abuse and violence every year.
